I recently hurt my right shoulder from being on the computer editing my book, performing thousands of reps from the mouse to the keyboard without a break for 6-8 hours a day. It doesn’t take years to create an over use injury! Beware of that and make sure to switch up your positioning at work and in the home.
The injury kind of got in my way of raising my arm to drink out of the gallon of water I always carry around. So I was carrying smaller bottles, drinking less water. While I love my hydroflask with no BPA, I need something bigger. Today I said screw it. I need to know I’m getting a gallon in a day. So my body is flushed of toxins and all the tissues are hydrated and malleable. So I cut a whole in the lid of the gallon jug (an old apple juice gallon from Costco) and put one staw into the end of the other to make a long straw.
Regardless of an injury, you should prevent repetitive movement above 60 degrees shoulder flexion (a little higher than straight out in front of you). Drinking out of a cup or water bottle requires this motion. Use a straw and you prevent that over use.
Drink water and stay healthy!
